Out of Print

Last night I was lying in bed reading a 1962 Jack Kerouac interview which was insane and hilarious. I’ve loved him since I read On The Road at 15, and I think it’s high time I reread some of his books.
This morning, I discovered these lovely t-shirts of largely out of print book covers at Out of Print Clothing (via daydream lily). I don’t wear t-shirts much, but these are pretty cool.

What are you reading these days? I’ve been reading lots of short works… it’s been an extremely hectic month, so I like to fit in short pieces here and there. But now that things have calmed, I’m thinking about reading some Evelyn Waugh.

I have also been thinking about re-reading On the Road – I bought a card version of that t-shirt for my boyfriend a few years ago, I love the illustration! Have you read the Dharma Bums?
I’ve found myself distracted recently and reading too many books at once – which means I don’t get fully engaged in any of them. I did just read the Tales of the City series, which were engaging and enjoyable – a fun look at San Francisco in the 70s and 80s.
Now I am looking for some good summer reads!
Yes, I like The Dharma Bums too. I’ve been meaning to pick up the penguin classics deluxe edition.
My husband and I are reading The Lost Symbol to each other. I like it now, but I kept falling asleep when he was reading to me in the first few chapters.
I am also trying to read David Copperfield by myself, because my husband said it was way too long and wordy to read out loud! I agree.
Agatha Christie novels. Just finished April in Paris, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society & Pictures at an Exhibition, all novels about WWII. Knitting & sewing magazines. Cookbooks about brunch and desserts and making jams & preserves.
Ooh, I should pick up some Agatha Christie. I’ve been wanting to watch Poirot lately.
Oh, yeah! Don’t you just love David Suchet?! I’ve been on an A.C. kick for a while and am working my way through the movies, again. Gotta love the library!
“A Prayer for Owen Meany” by John Irving
VERY fun!
the guernsey literary and potato peel pie society! it is just lovely in every way.
It really was. I think it just might be one of the few books I could read over & over…
Ohhh! I love E. Waugh! I’m about to start “Loved Ones.” Or “Vile Bodies.” I bought both a couple of weeks ago, and I’m not sure which to start with, but they both look great. As for what I’m currently reading – I’m in the middle of “Bohemian Girl,” a collection of short fiction by Willa Cather (of whom I am a HUGE fan).
I’ve just finished reading Lonesome Traveller by Kerouac, the piece on travlleing round Europe was amazing!
I love these! I have that edition of Slaughterhouse-Five. I love your blog by the way and think you might like mine too: ellenitza. Stop by when you have a minute.
I just read a really nice novel:

Full of nice vintage detail!
I love your blog.
these shirts are awesome. I actually requested a To Kill a Mockingbird version from them and they said they are working on it! Yay!!!
Reading now: Ender’s Game. It is all sorts of awesomeness. Also, stealing the Sherlock Holmes stories I got my honey a few weeks back. Its perfect for a quick fix read!
