I don’t thrift as much as I used to, but I’ve taken one or two trips recently that have yielded some lovely little finds.
These red gloves are just gorgeous, and actually fit my big hands. I have long fingers, so most vintage gloves don’t work for me.
And these white and [...]

I’m in love with this gorgeous glasses case that reader Kim made for me and sent all the way from Australia. Can you believe it? Sometimes it is astounding to me how nice people are.
It’s just beautifully constructed, and the white lace has me longing for summer already.

Here’s my latest finished knitting project. It’s called Made So Quickly and it’s from the book A Stitch in Time. I actually have the book from the early 1970s, but the new one seems to be updated with gorgeous photos and modern yarns, so I highly recommend it!
I’m not 100% crazy about the [...]

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous in Portland for the last week. I know it’s a false start and the rain will return, but it’s still a welcome relief. There are flowers absolutely everywhere all of a sudden.
When the weather is nice, we take a lot more walks. Long, rambling walks around [...]

Did you have a good valentine’s day? I am ambivalent about it. I love the imagery and the idea of expressing your love, but the whole thing has become sort of a commercial nightmare, don’t you think?
I like the idea of having valentine’s day all the time, which is one reason [...]

This week, I’m participating in Victoria’s Blog it Forward event. It’s sort of like a chain made up of blogs, all posting on the same theme: What Inspires Us The Most. Sounds fun, huh? And I’ve already uncovered some lovely blogs I’d never seen, so definitely check out the other participating [...]

I am dying to make sweaters from this ice cream colored yarn I just received from Colourmart. If you haven’t seen Colourmart before, they sell cashmere, silk, and other luxury yarn factory remainders for very affordable prices. I picked out a pale blue cashmere/merino blend, a mint green cashmere/merino, dove grey 100% cashmere, [...]

Kenn’s mom and stepdad were visiting this weekend, so we took them up to the Japanese Garden. It was so pretty, maybe even prettier in the Winter than when were there in the warmer months.
Japanese design never fails to amaze me, the way things can seem so organic and sculpted at the same time.

I am so tempted to cut my hair right now. I must be ready for a change in seasons. I just keep seeing girls all over the place with cute haircuts, either short or layered with bangs, and it’s very tempting.
I do like my length though. This is the first [...]
