Snowy end to 2009

It snowed! Kenn and I were sitting around, working in the office, when I peeked out the window to see fat snowflakes falling everywhere.

It was fun watching it go from a light dusting to a thick white blanket. I was beside myself with joy and kept calling it a “winter wonderland” over and over. Well, I haven’t lived in a place with snow for a while. And when I did it was New York City, and my memories of that are mostly of icy sidewalks and dirty slush, not pristine white blankets, flocked trees, and roaring indoor fires.

I baked some cookies, and we had them with coconut tea.

I think Basil liked the change of scenery outside.

It was a lovely end to 2009, very pretty and cozy. This year has been a remarkable one for me, I really feel like I picked up and left one life and started another. And that new one has been pretty much everything I want: creative opportunities, my own business, a garden of my own, sweet and warm friends (both new and old), and time to take walks and enjoy life. There’s been a lot of hard work involved, but I’m happier than I’ve ever been.

It was also the year I lost my grandmother, which was really difficult and remains with me. I think about her all the time and still can’t believe I won’t see her when I go home.

I know this year will be even more challenging and rewarding than the last. If the mood strikes me, maybe I’ll post some resolutions, I’m not sure yet. We are going to celebrate with friends tonight, I hope you all have a lovely new year’s eve and best wishes for the future!

Thanks, both of you lovely ladies!

Wishing both you and Kenn, plus Basil and Colette well this next year. Hope it will hold much surprises, for you four. I am so envious of you in Portland. Wish we could be there also. This past year had a few surprises for us as well. My daughter being crowned homecoming queen at her school is one of them. It was fun, but sad too. Sad because it will never happen again. Hoping the best you and yours.

Hi Sarai! I discovered your blog a few days ago and I absolutely love it (I’ve read the whole thing…). I love all the things you make and your sewing patterns are gorgeous. I make a lot of my own things as well, it’s great to find someone who makes something other than baby clothes and ugly handbags!
