Fall garden

Isn’t chard beautiful?
This is my fall garden. It looks a little battered because it’s been raining, but it’s pretty hearty. I planted dragon carrots (they are small and deep red), parsnips, broccoli, chard, and kale. I am a big fan of winter greens, especially kale.

Tell us what you do with your kale please, mine always seems to go bad from the CSA as I lack creativity when it comes to kale! Help!
I think fall vegetable gardens are rather romantic; compared to the burst of spring color, fall has such lovely muted tones. Enjoy your harvest!
kat, kale is so versatile! Just de-rib it and you can use it in place of spinach just about anywhere. But our favorite is kale sauteed in a bit of olive oil with some garlic just until it’s wilted. Then toss it with some toasted pine nuts and raisins (soak the raisins in warm water about 10 minutes first so they’re soft).
I also had some kale chips at a party the other night and they were so good! I haven’t tried them yet, but you can google and find recipes. They’re way better than they probably sound to you.
Love the fall garden. I can’t wait to plan my garden for next year. My first real grownup garden.
I could eat kale every single day. So good.
