Colette Patterns Spring Preview

Hi everyone! I was hoping to have Colette Patterns up and ready for business, but sadly there have been some pretty serious mishaps at the printer that will set me back a few weeks. But! I don’t want to disappoint those who have been waiting so patiently, so I thought I’d give a glimpse of [...]

Purple wedges (and signing off for a few days)

Aren’t these lovely? I really like the lilac color, so nice for spring. And the low wedges make them very comfortable. I can’t wait to wear them with shiny red toenails. I’d love to show you the many other things I got on my final bay area thrifting adventure: a gorgeous wide belt, a pale [...]

Nicole Farhi

I just discovered this designer, Nicole Farhi, and I am completely smitten with her spring collection. That hat is pretty amazing, and I love the soft candy colors and vintagey prints. The rosy-cheeked models also look really lovely. Don’t you wish models would smile sometimes though? It would suit this clothing so much more!

Suzabelle

Speaking of elastic shirring, I am in love with this little dress from Seattle designer Suzabelle. The little wooden beads on the straps are a great touch. Also, I think I need to crochet myself a bit floppy sun hat. Some more pretty things from the spring collection: {found via clothes-pin}

A Spring dress transformation

Isn’t this little sundress adorable? I used elastic shirring to transform it from a big 80s suburban housewife dress. I’ve posted all about it at the Colette Patterns blog: Transforming a dress with elastic shirring. Some of you may remember this lovely little sundress I transformed almost exactly a year ago from a fluffy 80s [...]

Homemade hair cream

This is my homemade DIY hair cream. I labeled it pomade, but I think it’s more of a cream/shine product than a sticky pomade. Obviously I didn’t spend a lot of time on making it look fancy, since it’s labeled with masking tape and a sharpie. I really love this stuff. I have very thick, [...]

Ici

One good thing about daylight savings is that there is still light enough in the evening to go for a stroll and enjoy an ice cream sandwich from Ici in Berkeley. We shared a candied meyer lemon sandwich with gingersnaps.

Wavy lady

Once upon a time I had stick straight hair. I’m not sure what happened, but in recent years it’s developed a definite wave. I’ve decided to go with it, so I’ve been playing with the wave a bit. I basically just use a teeny dab bit of my natural homemade hair creme and comb some [...]

Free to a good home: red plaid

Last one! Another one I’ve had sitting around for a good ten years. It’s kind of shameful. I also made some sort of crazy skirt/underbust corset thingy out of this back in the day. I adore plaid, and this warm red plaid is very punk rock vivienne westwood. It’s some sort of synthetic, which I [...]

Free to a good home: flocked twill

I have had this fabric since high school. In my club going days, I made a corset and matching circle skirt out of it. I still have a big piece left. It’s a black flocked leopard pattern on black cotton twill. It would make a really cute pencil skirt if you’re the rockabilly type. I [...]
