Sideways Grande Hat

I just finished this wonderfully soft, warm hat from Boutique Knits, a book I received as a gift. I’m going to be posting more images from the book shortly, it’s got some great patterns!
I used Rowan Cocoon, which I LOVE. It is so warm and soft, and the texture is just perfect.

Next up on the needles: Some cabled mitts of my own design, and… the first men’s sweater I’ve tried to design. Fun!

Nice work! I am working on an article about a local Portland milliner where the author of Boutique Knits, Laura Irwin, is an apprentice… I’m interviewing them tomorrow in fact! She is a very sweet lady.
lovely hat. can’t wait to make one myself.
Love the hat! I haven’t seen one like this before. The Rowan yarns are like knitting royalty I’ve discovered, must try and source some for myself!
Wow it lovely. I like the color and it looks so soft.
What do you think of that book in general?
I paged through it once.
cheers have fun in Portland.
Thanks everyone! Jesska, I agree that Rowan yarns are amazing!
Katie, I definitely like the book. I’ll post more of a review of it pretty soon…
That hat is fantastic! i love the detail.
I love this yarn and color, I almost bought some for the pimlico shrug when I ran out of yarn, but it was a little expensive. It’s nice to see a smaller (read: affordable) project using it! The hat is great, I’m on the lookout for patterns that will be more flattering that a skull cap!
absolutely stunning.
That hat is lovely. I wish I could something other than scarves.
Congratulations! Your hat is stylish, luscious and unusual! The yarn looks so inviting. I’m impressed, too. I flipped through the book at B&N this weekend, and I wasn’t interested. Now, I am! Great photos, knitting and obviously, an excellent yarn choice!
Very unique. I love it!
this is beautiful…………
So pretty, feminine, simple but yet original with the beautiful detail on the side. And I love the neutral color. You are good!
Picture perfect, very flattering. It looks so soft. Nice job.
This is a very lovely hat you did a superb job. It is very fitting for you.
I would like to make the sideways grand hat, how do I get the pattern and how much will it cost. I live in Australia?
thankyou

You seem to be a very special person. Taken from the vintage magazines and keeping living in that times. I was very touched from your favorite sweater and find it really cool that you can knit yourself such a nice 1934 Lace Sweater :-) Make alive this vintage stuff…
Finally, this hat you made is gorgeous and I hope I can try it one day.
Best and have a nice WE,
Judith
Hi! I’m in the process of knitting this hat, and I’m wondering if you found any printed errors in the pattern that you adjusted in order to complete the hat?
Thanks!
I just finished knitting the sideways Grande hat. I had the correct gauge but the hat was a total disaster.
Much to long depth wise. Has anyone had this problem? Thanks Irene
Hi Irene, Yes I had much the same problem. I went down to size 8 needle, and still much to long. I’m going to cast on 30 stitches instead of the 42 and see if that works. This will be my third attempt. The other two hats look like they will work for production of “Cat in the Hat”.
Ahora mismo llevo ese sombrero puesto. Y lo amo
