The Remade Slip
September 27, 2007 at 7:27 am | In Clothes and Style, Crafts, Sewing | 2 CommentsI love vintage slips. LOVE them. They are so incredibly flattering and have some of the most amazing fitting details. I had one in particular that I loved, a moss green bias cut thing that I literally wore to pieces. When it started ripping in irrepairable places, I decided to give [...]
Branching Out
September 26, 2007 at 7:26 am | In Crafts, Knitting | No CommentsBranching Out from Knitty, in a pretty mint green mohair. Knitted for my cousin.
Swimming Pool Blue
September 25, 2007 at 7:25 am | In Clothes and Style, Crafts, Sewing | 1 CommentI love the color of this dress. It’s a shimmering silk crepe, the color of a swimming pool. And the black really makes it pop.
It also ties in the back with a big black bow with trailing ends, which I unfortunately can’t find a photo of. No coffin clothes here.
My Favorite Sweater
September 24, 2007 at 7:25 am | In Clothes and Style, Crafts, Knitting | No CommentsThis is, without a doubt, my favorite thing that I’ve knitted. It was for my mom.
The pattern is from an old issue of Vogue Knitting (Winter 04 or 05, I believe), and the yarn is Merino Style from KnitPicks. I spent about three months on it all together.
I was trying to think of [...]
Angelina
September 23, 2007 at 7:24 am | In Clothes and Style, Crafts, Knitting | 2 CommentsThe Angelina sweater from White Lies Designs. A beautiful piece that unfortunately tends to slip off my shoulders due to the almost dolman-like sleeves. I would make this again, but alter the pattern quite a bit to be more fitted at the shoulder and upper arms.
Johnson
September 22, 2007 at 7:23 am | In Clothes and Style | 1 CommentAnother adorable independent designer, Johnson Shop.
I love the details on that denim skirt.
Spiderwebs and Pearls
September 21, 2007 at 7:21 am | In Clothes and Style, Crafts, Knitting | No CommentsMy spiderweb lace scarf, trimmed with freshwater pearls.
I love scarves that almost double as jewelry. I would like to make more. This one looks really lovely tied around the throat and sort of trailing behind, down the back.
Endpaper Mitts
September 18, 2007 at 7:00 am | In Clothes and Style, Crafts, Knitting | 1 CommentThese are the Endpaper Mitts, by Eunny Jang. I adore them. They keep me warm in my overly air conditioned office, and are the perfect thing for riding my bike.
I have some cocoa and cream yarn just waiting to be made up into a second pair.
Marian Martin Dress
September 17, 2007 at 7:00 am | In Clothes and Style, Crafts, Sewing, Vintage | 5 CommentsI made this dress from a Marian Martin pattern from the 50s (9056, for the curious). I love the combination of cocoa and that certain creamy light brown. It reminds me of coffee and cream. I also love just about anything with a bow at the neckline.
This was taken at our old [...]
Honeymoon!
September 16, 2007 at 7:00 am | In Handmade Wedding, Travel | 2 CommentsOur wedding was just about perfect. More details on that after the honeymoon!
I’m off to Italy’s Amalfi Coast for a couple of weeks! sigh.
I’ve lined up some posts on past projects of mine while I’m gone. I hope you enjoy! But please understand if I don’t answer any comments or email [...]
