Handmade Wedding: The Toile
July 22, 2007 at 3:13 pm | In Crafts, Handmade Wedding, Sewing | 5 CommentsThis is what happens when you need to make a toile and have blown your budget for the dress on italian silk and gorgeous trim. This bargain-bin green calico did the trick nicely, though. I actually quite like it.
I’m not always good about mocking up with a toile, but a wedding dress is [...]
Handmade Wedding: Finishing the Invitations
July 21, 2007 at 10:20 am | In Crafts, Handmade Wedding | 4 CommentsSo now that my invitations are designed and printed, it was time to assemble them and make reply cards.
1) Cutting: I bought a paper cutter to get absolutely straight edges. These things are cheap and a good investment. It saved me a lot of time cutting the edges off of each invitation, and [...]

Getting away
July 11, 2007 at 12:38 pm | In Travel | No CommentsThe days have been feeling long lately, in more ways than one. So late in the day on Friday, we decided to run off to Sonoma for the weekend.
After some cursory research on Trip Advisor, we found a vacancy at a bed and breakfast called the Melitta Station Inn in Santa Rosa. When [...]
Flora Grubb
July 4, 2007 at 7:40 pm | In Home, Local - SF bay, Shops | No CommentsOn Sunday, we rode our bikes to the new Flora Grubb Gardens location. What a gorgeous nursery. I was clutching my heart, pining for an actual house with an actual yard. Or at least a porch that gets a bit of sun. Anything.
San Francisco, why do you taunt me with your [...]
Lacis
July 4, 2007 at 6:19 pm | In Millinery, Sewing, Shops | 2 CommentsLast weekend, I stopped by Lacis in Berkeley to pick up a few things. Lacis is something of a dream store for me. Part of it is dedicated to their lace and textile museum, while the rest of the site offers all manner of tools and supplies for textile arts, as well as [...]
